ANNA NERGER 1934 - 2013 Anna Nerger passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Concordia Place, Winnipeg, MB. Anna was predeceased by her husband Helmuth and her siblings: Karl, Heinrich, Reinhard, Waldemar, David, Ewald and Hilda. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Heinz (Arlene) Nerger and Connie (Richard) Gamble, grandchildren: William, Jessica, R.J. and Robbie, as well as her sister Emma and brother Adolf. Anna was born and raised in Germany and came to Canada in the mid 1950s for a better life and that she did. She met her husband Helmuth, who was also born and raised in Germany. They were married over 30 years before Helmuth passed away in 1988. Their first home was on Kensington, which was converted to roads with the development of Polo Park. The family then moved to Fort Richmond where they resided for 40 years. Later Anna moved to Agape Village and once her health began to decline she moved to Thorvaldson Intermediate Care and finally Concordia Nursing Care. Anna spent over 25 years working at Salisbury House. Fellow co-workers and customers would recognize her everywhere she went. In the summers, the family spent time camping in a cozy trailer all over Canada and the U.S.A. Grand Beach was a favourite spot. Anna and Helmuth also enjoyed travelling to visit relatives in Germany. Anna always enjoyed flowers and spent time gardening when she wasn't working or taking care of the house. Anna and her husband always worked hard to get ahead and were able to make a good life in Winnipeg. German traditions were mixed in with Canadian traditions, but she still favoured her German heritage and often said how good German products were, and of course went regularly to the German bakery and meat market so we all ate well. Anna had an easy going manner, never wanted to "bother" anyone. After some health struggles she is now at peace. We will remember her always. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 29 at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd., Winnipeg, MB R3T 5Y4. We worked together at Salisbury house on corydon ave. On the evening shift, Anna showed me the ropes on who liked what and when people would come in. Always a friendly person to all, she spoke German to her close friends to make them feel at home. When coming into the restaurant for something to eat. She always encouraged people to try the dessert something she enjoyed very much. - Posted by: Ruth millan (Coworker) on: Aug 27, 2013
