Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJEAN (JOHN) WILFRID PAQUIN 1923 - 2013 Suddenly, with dignity and courage, on Tuesday, August 26, 2013, Jean Wilfrid Paquin passed away at the age of 90 at the Dryden Regional Health Centre. He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his sons, Gérald (Andrée) and Marcel (Trish); his brothers René (Anne) and Ernest; his daughter-in-law Carol (Ken); his grandchildren Kevin, Nicolas, Eric, Marie-Josée, Isabelle, Catherine and Julie, his great-grandchildren, his nephews, nieces and many dear friends. John was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba on February 26, 1923. He spent his youth on the family farm where he developed a strong personal work ethic that lasted his lifetime. On July 8, 1944, John married his beloved Yolande (Millier) and the two were inseparable until her passing on February 23, 2012. Soon after, he joined Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders and he valiantly served his country during the Second World War as a medic. Upon his return to St. Boniface, John mastered the skills of carpentry. With his young family, he moved to McIntosh, Ontario where he built his homestead and continued his trade. Here they forged lifelong friendships, opening their hearts and home to the many who visited. In their sunset years, John and Yolande became snowbirds and enjoyed winters in Arizona where other dear friends were made. Their last residence was in Bowden, Ontario where they found a genuinely warm and supportive community. John took pride in and enjoyed the company of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He took pleasure in meeting new people and always left a lasting impression through his storytelling. He charmed and delighted many with his splendid voice. John was a man of principle, energetic and resourceful with a bright and positive outlook on life. Our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Yvon Gagnon, nurses and staff at the Dryden Regional Health Centre for their kindness and compassionate care. Thanks also for the wonderful support provided to him by the many neighbours and community friends. A celebration of life will be held at Quibell Community Hall (Ontario), on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. If friends so desire, donations may be made in John's memory to the Winnipeg Church for the Deaf through the Dryden Community Funeral Home, 249 Grand Trunk Ave., Dryden, ON P8N 2X3. Johnny is again reunited with his great love, Yolande.

Mes plus sincères sympathies Marcel et Gérald. Moi et mes filles retenons de très bons souvenirs de "Johnny". Toujours plein d'énergie et d'humour, il rendait nos visites à Macintosh si agréables. - Posted by: Gérald Gagnon (Friend) on: Aug 31, 2013

I knew Monsieur Paquin from the amazing summers I spent at Macintosh with my family. In turn I got to meet his wonderful family, and I spent many a summer playing with his grandchildren. I remember fishing with him and watching him mow the lawn..... It seems like he was "always" mowing the lawn. It's been at least 20 ish years since I saw Monsieur Paquin but he is a person I will never forget. Sorry for everyone's loss, he will be missed but not forgotten. - Posted by: Leeane Cloutier (Friend) on: Aug 30, 2013

My fondest memories were forged in McIntosh every summer. Whenever I think of "the lake", my mind always goes to McIntosh where John and Yolande created such a wonderful vacation spot. John taught me how to drive a boat on that lake, and I'm sure he taught many other people. Thank you for all the great memories John and Yolande. - Posted by: Dan Hall (friend) on: Aug 29, 2013

Uncle Johnny was down to earth mixed with a dry wit. I have fond memories of him. - Posted by: Helene Marie Olivine Paquin (niece) on: Aug 29, 2013
