MARION FLORENCE SCUTTER (nee CHIDWICK) June 12, 1920 - August 17, 2013 It is with great sorrow that we announce her peaceful passing at home during the early morning of August 17 at age of 93. She will be greatly missed by her son David (Signy), her daughter Margaret Smith (Ian), grandchildren Charlene Wood (Roger), Gillian Scutter, Christopher Smith (Amy), Andrew Smith (Linda), Paul Smith (Pam), Michelle Smith and nine great-grandchildren. Marion was born in England and married Edward in 1942. She moved to Winnipeg in 1959. Shortly thereafter, through her daughter, she became involved in the Girl Guides and eventually became Commissioner and received a lifetime membership for her 17 years of dedication to the organization. After her husband passed away in 1973 she moved to the vacation home she and Edward had purchased. Not one to sit around she became involved with community. She became a church warden at a St. Bartholmew's Anglican Church and president of the woman's auxiliary. At the age of 76 Marion decided to move to Edmonton to be close to her daughter. Interment will take place September 7 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson in the Park, 1291 McGillivray Blvd, Winnipeg. Friends and relatives are invited for reminiscence and fellowship.

  • Marion and I met when our youngest daughter was 6 weeks old. When I visited we would put Suzanne on the kitchen table so "Blue" could not reach her. Our older daughter, Carol would love to pat the dog. We spent a lot of time together in those days as I was also with the guiding movement. When Marion moved to Edmonton, she gave us that kitchen table. We still have it and we will never let it go. We used it in Vancouver when we lived there looking after my Mother, and we use it today in our Winnipeg home. Marion was a very special Lady who was first a caring Wife to Ted, loving Mother to David and Margaret, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was also a very kind and loving friend to us and our daughters, especially Carol, who once lived in Edmonton, while Marion did also. We were planning to visit Marion in October, and now our trip will not be the same. Marion, you will now be reunited with Ted and please give Carol a Big Hug for us. We will miss you so much my friend. Thinking of the Family at this time.. Doug and Judy Walton - Posted by: Doug & Judy Walton (Friends of this Specail Lady) on: Aug 31, 2013
