Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONALD HARVEY MINAKER November 17, 1943 - August 10, 2013 The family is saddened to announce the passing of Don at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia on Saturday, August 10, 2013. He was predeceased by his mother Asa Gudmundson and his father Harold Minaker. He is survived by his devoted wife Dorothy Alexander; two sisters, Carol Minaker and Diane (John) Weselake; four children, Natasha, Wade (Carmen), Robin (Brad) Rattee, and Andrew (Sherry); two grandchildren, Alexandra and Benjamin Rattee. Don was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2009. He approached the disease in a matter of fact way and remained strong through the tough times. Don loved the newspaper and was interested in antiques and collectibles. Don loved to talk with everyone and his laugh could fill a room. Don will forever be in our hearts and will always be remembered. A small family service was held in Halifax, Nova Scotia and a private service will take place this fall in Winnipeg, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Multiple Myeloma Society (Myeloma Canada: 1-888-798-5771) or the QEll Foundation (Medical Day, 4th Floor, Victoria General Hospital: 1-902-473-7932).
