ANNE EDITH COTT (nee EDMUNDS) February 8, 1924 August 23, 2013 Died in her daughter's arms two days after emergency surgery for a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm. To the end she was an active, vibrant woman who delighted in living in her own home, spending time at her cottage and having a conversation with anyone whether at morning coffee or the seniors' bridge club. A retired teacher and author of three books she was a kind, generous, loving and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She still regularly kept in touch with over 100 friends and relatives. Anne was predeceased by her beloved husband Wes (2003), daughter Gloria (2004), grandson Kennie (2005) and three brothers, Raymond, Bob and Keith. She is survived by her loving daughter Cheryl, her grandchildren Laurie and Rob Mahle, siblings Irene Hedley, Glen Edmunds (Shirley) and Don Edmunds (Beulah) plus nieces and nephews too numerous to mention, many of whom were at a recent celebration of her 90th year. The family historian, she leaves a huge hole in our lives and our hearts. A force of nature, she will be missed by all. We would like to thank Dr. Guzman, Dr. Siddiqi, RNs Deanne and Heather, and all the I.C.U. team at St. Boniface Hospital for their superb patient and family centered care. As per Anne's wishes, there will not be a funeral. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • We wish to offer our condolences to Cheryl, Robbie, Irene, Glenda and Jesse. We will truly miss Anne. She was a wonderful neighbor to us and made us feel welcome right from the start. She taught us a few landscaping procedures and tried to help us meet everyone. We could never keep up with her. She was always busy in her yard. The first time we saw her she had her chainsaw in her wheelbarrow. We wish her eternal peace and rest, but will miss her very much. It was an honor to have known her. Sending big hugs to Glenda, Irene and Jesse. - Posted by: Wes, Dwayne, Diane, Jordan, Stacy, Josh and Hanna (Neighbors at the Big Whiteshell) on: Sep 10, 2013

  • We have known Anne and Wes for many years thru Square dancing. We will miss her visits at Betula lake and going to Big Whiteshell to visit her. We played Bridge with her and Wes. She is a very nice lady and will be missed by our family. - Posted by: Richard & Henrietta Anderson (close friend) on: Sep 05, 2013

  • Cheryl, I am truly sorry to hear of Anne's passing. I will miss her newsy annual letters, her big smile and cheerfulness. All of us can only hope that we will have as much zest for life and be as involved as she was until the end. She always made me truly welcome when I used to go for a visit. I just wish I could have seen more of her recently. - Posted by: Marjorie Bennetts (cousin) on: Sep 01, 2013

  • I have been going out to the Whiteshell cottage for some 30+ years. Anne has graciously allowed me the chance to keep going out there. I will miss her stories (she had so many to tell), and how you could just talk to her about anything; young or old. Anne was an inspiration to so many of us. I only wish that I could live a life so rich in experience the way she did. Rest in peace Anne, and thank you kindly for all of the memories. - Posted by: Amber () on: Aug 31, 2013

  • Anne had taught school with my Mom, Inez McElroy at Robert Browning School for a number of years and my Mom always enjoyed the gathering that Anne would host at her home on Holt....I used to see Anne from time to time at McDonald's at Walmart and always enjoyed her stories....A very special lady.......She will be missed by many - Posted by: Diane Keep (FRIEND) on: Aug 31, 2013

  • I was so sorry to hear that Anne had passed. She was an inspiration for us all. This wonderful lady never let her age stop her from living and I am sure that is why she did so well for so long. She drove her car, just as well as any younger person right until the end, she wrote and published books including the History of the Whiteshell, which is brilliant, and she was a pleasure to be around. She lived her life the way we all should, age should never come in your way. We will miss her so much and hope that she is peacefully resting, she deserves that. My condolences to Cheryl, Laurie and Robbie. - Posted by: Tyler (Friend) on: Aug 31, 2013
