MARC VERRIER January 28, 1957 - August 10, 2013 It is with great sorrow that Marc's family announces his untimely death at the age of 56. After a courageous year long battle with leukemia, Marc passed away at home in Victoria surrounded by his loving family: wife Mercedes; daughters Lauren, Chloe, Dana and son Joey; parents Romeo and Rose; sisters Gisele (Raymond) and Joanne and brothers Gilbert (Gisele), Gerald and Robert (Susan). Marc was born in St. Boniface and upon graduation from the University of Manitoba, moved to Toronto. At age 29, on the strength of his intelligence, integrity, discipline and focus, he founded and then led a very successful company Genesis Financial Products. Marc loved to golf, read, walk, bike and discuss. He enjoyed nature and spent many happy years living on an acreage in the countryside of Caledon, Ontario. Three years ago, Marc relocated to Victoria to be closer to family, enjoy semi-retirement and spend more time on the golf course. Sadly he had only two short years to do so prior to his diagnosis. Marc was generous, selfless and kind-hearted. He had the most wonderful sense of humour and loved to laugh. During his illness he maintained his positive attitude, his determination and his interest in everyone else. He remained a model of strength, calm and dignity throughout his ordeal. We love you, Marc. You will remain forever in our hearts! Please honour Marc's memory by making a donation to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (www.llscanada.org/#/waystohelp/donate/)

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • My dad was the most amazing man. He was caring, loving... there is no point in listing anymore. He had every one! He taught me so many wonderful things about life that I will treasure for the rest of my mine. He is, was and will always be the most important man in my life. I'm going to miss our great father and daughter conversations. I will always miss you dad. But just like the trophy we made you.... No matter where we are in the world it's always as if you right beside us. Love you so much xoxoxo - Posted by: Lauren Verrier (Daughter) on: Oct 19, 2013

  • My deepest sympathies to all Marc's family. I met Marc as a classmate at St. Boniface College in 1968-69. Marc was the captain of one hockey team and I was the same for another. He was very competitive and a talented hockey player. We had many good hockey matches. I'm sure he will be missed by many people. May he rest in peace. Goodbye my friend. - Posted by: Alcide Boulet (Friend) on: Sep 09, 2013

Ditto for all the great things that were said about him, especially regarding his sense of humour and kind-heartedness. There will always be a corner in my heart reserved for Marc.
