KAY USHY Kay was born August 2, 1920, grew up and attended Polson School in Winnipeg in the East Kildonan area. The family subsequently moved to Winnipeg's West End in 1945. She leaves to mourn her; son Gerry Chapman, his wife Audrey, and brother Raymond Dary (Marie), as well as many nieces and nephews. Kay was predeceased by her loving husband Joseph, parents Nicholas and Lena Dary, and sisters Jean Ivanicki (Nicholas) and Anne Johnson (Lloyd) of California. She worked and managed the Quinton's Cleaners store at Portage and Young Street from 1950 until 1975. Kay was a tireless and hard working lady, raising a son virtually on her own. Although a very private person, she always had a friendly smile for everyone. She and Joe spent their retirement days in Transcona where Joe had worked many years for the C.N.R. In 2008, shortly after Joe passed away, Kay was moved to the Emerson Personal Care Home where she received excellent care and was a friend to all, until her passing. According to Kay's wishes, a private service was held; Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Emerson, followed by interment at the Emerson Cemetery. Many thanks to the marvelous staff at the Emerson Personal Care Facility who attended to her needs and gave excellent care during the years she was a resident. Also a special note of thanks to those individuals who took time to sit with her during her final days. We also would like to thank Terry Wiebe and the folks at Wiebe Funeral Home in Altona for their superior service in this regard. In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to make a donation to the Emerson Personal Care Home Garden Project, may do so in Kay's memory.
