DAVID PAUL HJORLIEFSON David Paul Hjorliefson, 57 of Vancouver, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 due to lung cancer. David was born on January 5, 1956 in Winnipeg at St. Boniface Hospital to Einar and Blanche Hjorliefson. He graduated from Vancouver Community College with a bookkeeping diploma. David was married to Gary Anthony Thibault on May 9, 2006 on their 23rd anniversary. They had 30 loving years together. David worked as a jewelry salesman, entrepreneurial business owner and an insurance claims adjudicator. He also was a long time advocate of gay rights, marriage equality as well as a volunteer support/counselor. He collected watches and traveled in his spare time. David was predeceased by his father and survived by his loving mother, three brothers: Danny, Palmi and Mark; sisters-in-law: Joyce and Shirley; brother-in-law Delroy, three nieces and special friends. We will all miss his stoicism, good humour, gentle disposition, kind heart and good ear. Visitation will be taking place on Monday, September 9 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 969 Burrard Street (at Nelson) Vancouver, BC, entrance to church through red door in parking lot. David requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made in his memory to the BC Cancer Agency. Walkey & Company Funeral Directors 604-738-0006

  • I always remember spending winters in Vancouver with Einer and Blanche and the boys. Visited with Blanche when she lived in Riverton. Always a great friend and smiling, this was David's way.
