DAVID GEORGE THOMAS MACPHAIL (GEORGE) Peacefully on April 24, 2013 to be reunited with his beloved wife of 62 years, Shirley Anne (Pritchard) (predeceased 2010). Also predeceased by grandsons Mason (2009), and David Cleverley (2011). Survived by his children Lori (Don) Cleverley, David and Bruce. Proud grandpa to Megan, Kristin (Tim Fricker) and Anna (David Ferguson) Cleverley; Kendra (Ethan Lee), Amanda (Derek Hansen) and Dustin MacPhail. Loving great-grandpa to Carys, Ryder, Natali, Phoebe and Liam. Survived by brother Neil (Susan), sister Janet MacPhail, brother-in-law Gibb (Joanne) Pritchard, and special uncle to Gibb and Zak Pritchard. George played in the CFL from 1948 to 1954. He was on two Grey Cup teams including the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the infamous 1950 Mud Bowl. His career was cut short by a brain tumor, but he continued a love of sports by coaching young athletes. He went on to have a successful five decade career in the furniture business. George will be missed by many family and friends. Cremation has taken place in Ontario. A Memorial Service will be held at Kildonan Presbyterian Cemetery, 2327 Main St. on Friday, September 20 at 11:00 a.m.
