DONALD MATTHEW DELAMERE After a long, hard fought battle with illness, Donald Delamere passed away at Abbotsford Hospital on August 2, 2013. Don was born in Saskatoon on June 25, 1944. He spent a happy childhood in Prince Albert and after high school, joined the R.C.A.F in 1962. Attaining the rank of corporal, Don studied arduously to receive his BSc from the University of Winnipeg and was granted a Queen's Commission. Capt. Delamere retired after 27 years of service to his country. Don continued to work for defence contractors and later for the Corp of Commissionaires for 12 plus years, working mostly in White Rock, BC. Don coached baseball and hockey, was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, a techie, an avid cyclist and Saskatchewan Rough Rider fan, and was best known for helping out people in need. He was predeceased by his parents Marjorie and Albert Delamere and birth father, Donald Roberge. Don is survived by his sons, Scott, Shaun (Michelle) and Matthew (Nicole), his partner Arlene Mussato, birth mother Helen Schindel, biological siblings, Doug and Elaine Roberge, Barb, Joan, Janet and Judy Schindel, his boys' mother, Leone Sigurdson, grand-children Amanda, Andrew, Nicholas, Christopher, Samantha and Tommy. A memorial service will be held at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Ave. at the Lasting Tribute Chapel, 2:00 p.m., September 20 - reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
