MICHAEL (SAM) JOHN WILBY October 22, 1951 - September 6, 2013 Mike (Sam) lost his long and courageous battle with cancer at the Beausejour Hospital at the age of 61. He is survived by his wife Donna, of 40 years; his son Jonathon (Aimee), grandchildren Alicia, Dallas, Jace, and Lainey; son James, grandchildren Austin, Alexis and Nathan. Mike was predeceased by his father and mother John and Olga Wilby, and his father-in-law John Duguid. Mike was born in Winnipeg and grew up in Weston, where he met his wife Donna. He was very proud of his Weston heritage. He used to shop at the local dump, which is how the nickname Sam came about. His mother called him Sam Sam the garbage man, which from that point on he was known as Sam by his family and close friends. Sam was a boilermaker/welding instructor for 35 years with Canadian Pacific Railway (Weston Shops). There was nothing Sam couldn't fix or make as long as he knew it would save him a buck. He was an outdoorsman and loved wildlife. He loved his ferrets, Freddy and Dooker. He enjoyed camping and hunting but his real passion was for fishing. After his retirement he loved walking and riding his bike around Tyndall, MB, where he resided for 34 years. He made many great friends on his journeys around town which he cherished. The family would like to thank Dr. Szaky, Dr. Schmidt and all the wonderful, caring and compassionate staff of the Beausejour Hospital during his final time. Also, the family would like to thank his sister Corky, brother-in-law Bob Hayden, sister-in-law Heather and brother-in-law Glen Watson for all their help and support during this difficult time. Sam's wishes were not to have a funeral service, but rather a small family gathering. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made on his behalf to the Beausejour Hospital, Box 1178, Beausejour, MB R0E 0C0; or www.manitobaferrets.ca; or contact The Shelter at 204-661-1389. Sam, I love you with all my heart, forever and always. Love, Donna Everyone has a father but not everyone has a Dad. You were the best Dad ever. • I'm sorry to hear of Mike's passing, I had no idea he was sick. I can only think of good times we had at work and how he used to make me laugh, and I was usually laughing at myself. He was quite the story teller, he was an excellent teacher and I owe a lot to him. Alan - Posted by: Al Vandenbossche (Co Worker/Friend) on: Sep 14, 2013
