BLICQ (nee LOVATT) After a courageous battle with health challenges, Ann died peacefully at Riverview Health Centre early Monday morning, September 16, 2013. Ann was adored and will be sorely missed by her husband of 58 years, Ian Blicq; her son David and his wife Suzanne and their sons Thomas and James, of Winnipeg; her son Steven and partner Rylee of Vancouver; her son John and her brother-in-law Ronald Blicq of Winnipeg; and Brodie and Melandria, children of her late daughter Susan. She was also survived by a valued member of her extended family, Linda Thorson of Victoria; and by many other loving family relatives and friends across Canada. Ann was born in 1927, and married Ian in 1955. She was a long-time resident of St. Vital. Soon after her wedding she resigned from employment at Great West Life, and focused her loving nurturing skills on her children. Over time she was blessed with four grandchildren on whom she lavished devoted care which will be long remembered. She had a great sense of humour, which she shared to the delight of her family on many occasions. Ann was a spirited contender in sports, including paddling, badminton, tennis, sailing and swimming. She was also a dedicated bridge player. On all occasions she displayed enthusiasm and grace. She spent most of her summers with her family at her beloved Clear Lake in Riding Mountain National Park. She loved and spoiled her two pet spaniels, and in turn, her children's family pets. Through the latter term of her illness, outstanding services and extraordinary compassionate care were provided to Ann and her family by the staff at Riverview Health Centre. At 10.00 a.m. on Friday, October 4, 2013, a memorial service and reception to celebrate Ann's life will be held at St. Mary Magdalene Church, #1 St. Vital Road. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a memorial donation to the MS Research Fund at Riverview Health Centre Foundation in Winnipeg.

Ann Blicq was a woman of amazing energy and a love of life! I know that she will be greatly missed by everyone who was close to her. She and Ian raised amazing kids that I was lucky enough to know as neighbours, students and now, friends. I can still to this day see Ann bustling into my classroom at Hastings School to work beside me. I looked so forward to those days as there was nothing that Ann couldn't handle in the most positive way.
