LAURA MAY CHARTRAND (nee LITTLE) It is with sadness we announce the passing of our mother Laura Chartrand, on September 15, 2013, at the E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital in Eriksdale, MB. She is survived by her children Linda (Grant) MacLeod, David (and friend Ellen), Gerald, Sandra (Gordon) Squire, James (Wendy), Jo Ann (Allan) Thomas, Virginia (Ron) Thomas, Richard (Shelly); a brother Gerry (Jane) Little, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mom is predeceased by her parents, her husband, David Chartrand, a son, Douglas Chartrand, a grandson, as well as two daughters-in-law. Mom was born in Winnipeg and moved out to Oak Point, MB with her parents and brother at an early age. She met and married Dave Chartrand and worked on the farm all her life. Laura loved the country life, tending to the animals, cooking and baking. Mom always believed in keeping an open door and offering a helping hand. At her request, cremation has taken place and a graveside memorial service, open to all, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 20, 2013 at the Notre Dame Cemetery in Oak Point, MB with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. A lunch will be served at the Oak Point Community Hall following the interment, all are welcome to attend. Thank you to the Lundar Personal Care Home staff for the wonderful care, compassion and understanding they provided to Mom and our family throughout the years. We also extend our thanks to Aunty Rita Chartrand for all the time she spent helping Laura in day to day affairs and taking her on outings. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lundar Personal Care Home Guild, in care of Judy Gleich, P.O. Box 60, Lundar, Manitoba R0C 1Y0.
