ELSIE MARJORIE JOHNS On September 17, 2013, Elsie Marjorie Johns (nee Dennis), our loving Mother, Grandma and Great-Grandma, went "Home" to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. With a radiant face and sparkling blue eyes, Mom frequently talked of Heaven, and looked forward to the day she would see her beloved husband, Blake. One can only imagine the joy of reunion of a couple so absolutely committed to each other for over 66 years. We are so thankful for a home that was solidly founded on personal faith in Jesus Christ, love and service. Mom graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1942 and worked until the age of 60. Often weary, she found her strength through Bible reading and prayer. In her quiet way, Mom was always concerned about the spiritual and physical welfare of those she loved and served. Although shy and insecure, Mom possessed a playful attitude and a spunky determination. She would be the last to realize how truly strong and beautiful she was. Mom's life was devoted to her family. She will be deeply missed by her children: Ray and Donna Johns, Glenda and Al Doerksen, and Joy and Oral Roset; and by her grandchildren and their families: Tracy and Leighton Berry (Sabrina and Dylan), Laurie and Jeff Kraynyk (Owen, Avery and Wyatt), Paul Doerksen, Tammy Doerksen (Caleb and Emma), Christy and Jay Stockdale (Winston and Will), Evie and Tyson Howells ( Blake, Jude and Seth). With deep appreciation and gratitude, we applaud the exceptional, loving care that Mom received at Calvary Place. Mom so loved being at Manhattan Beach surrounded by her family. Any donations in her memory to the Manhattan Beach Retreat Centre, P.O. Box 62, Ninette, MB R0K 1R0, would be greatly appreciated. The family invites you to join with them to honour her memory on Saturday, September 28 at 2:00 p.m. in the Buntain Chapel of Calvary Temple, located at the corner of Hargrave Street and Cumberland Avenue.
