ALEXANDRA (ALICE) LUCHIK Peacefully, with her family at her side; Alexandra (Alice) Luchik (nee Kowal) passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 85. Alice was predeceased by her beloved husband of 59 years Anton, her beloved daughter Patrice Elaine Schulz age 41, parents Michael and Anne Kowal; brothers Peter (Carrie), and Joseph. She leaves one brother, John Kowal. Alice will be sadly missed by son Richard (Susan); grandchildren Ashley, Taralyn (Chad) Eddy, great-grandchildren Calab, Carter, Chase and Caiden; Sherry (Jonathan) Craig, great-grandchildren Jayden, Taj and Brixton; Ryan (Sara) Schulz, great-grandchild Jesse. Alice will also be remembered by her son-in-law Peter (Sharon) Schulz with Erin Jersak, and Jamie (Duane) Mondor, great-grandchildren Taylor, Adalynn and Jaxen. She will also be remembered by many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. Alice was born and raised in Winnipeg. After schooling, Alice worked with the Bank of Montreal for ten years, took time off to raise two children Richard and Patrice, then continued employment with Kmart in Southdale working at the refund desk for 18 years, at which time Alice retired. Alice participated in choirs throughout her school years from grade 3 to grade 12, and also, competed in musical festivals and operettas that were composed at school. Alice attended William Whyte School in 1935 at the age of seven, being chosen to sing in a choir for King George V and Queen Mary. When the choir finished singing, the stage was set up for the Maple Poll Dance, also known as the Ribbon Dance. Alice with her fellow students danced the Ribbon Dance for the King and Queen. This prestigious event took place at the Royal Alexander Hotel. Alice had a strong passion for gardening, planting yearly flowers to decorate the yard. Also, Alice spent much of her later years taking care of Anton during his battle with cancer. Alice was always there for her family with a helping hand or a listening ear and she will be missed by everyone. The funeral service will be held at Chapel Lawn, at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 23. Once in awhile Anton and Alice would come into the casino for an hour or two. They would have dinner and take in some entertainment. Never have I met two more beautiful and friendly people. Even after Anton's sad passing, she would come in and bring a smile to our faces.
