RAYMOND MASSEY We are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Raymond Massey, who died peacefully on Sunday, September 22, 2013. Raymond leaves to mourn his wife of almost 55 years, Mary Massey, their children Robert (Kelly), Daryl (Joanne), Daniel, and Monica Schmidt (Steve), eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren as well as his two sisters, Adeline West (Jim) and Lorraine Bruce (Terry Turner). Raymond was predeceased by his parents Reinhold and Hilda and his brother Arnold. Raymond was born in Morden and grew up on the farm in the 1-6 District just South of Morden. He left the farm at 25 years of age to start a cabinet business in Winnipeg, and from these humble beginnings rose one of Winnipeg's premiere homebuilders - Raymond Massey Builders. During this time he met the love of his life, Mary; they were married and raised their family on Assiniboine Crescent in Birchwood Heights, where they enjoyed great friends and neighbours. An active member of Christian Business Men of Canada and Cross Lutheran Church, one of his proudest achievements was the construction of the Arms of the Cross Seniors Residence adjacent to the church a lasting legacy and a testament to his vision and leadership. A member of St. Charles Country Club for many years, Raymond enjoyed golfing in the summer and curling in the winter, most recently at Deer Lodge Community Club. Raymond lived a full life, loved his family and loved the Lord. A special thanks to his family' at Convalescent Home of Winnipeg personal care home where Raymond spent his final months your love and care for Raymond and our family was a special blessing to us all. A memorial service and reception will be held Friday, September 27 at 11:00 a.m. at Cross Lutheran Church, 560 Arlington Avenue, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to Lutheran Church of the Cross or Convalescent Home of Winnipeg. Hello Mary I am very sorry to learn of Raymond's passing. My cousin Maureen has just informed me. She was one of your students at Maplestead School and said you were so lovely to her. I was not old enough to go to school when you boarded at our house, but you were also wonderful to me, reading me stories at bedtime. I hope you are well. Please accept my deepest sympathy. - Posted by: Wendy (little girl) on: Oct 02, 2013
