ELENA CAITLIN ROBERTSON-WOOD (Blueberry Girl) Passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 22, 2013 in her mother (Frances) and father's (Calvin) arms at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, MB. She will be missed and loved by her parents, her brothers Kyle, and Julian, grandmas: Valerie and Eleanor, grandpas: Dan and Joseph, Uncles: Joe, Craig, Sean, Dean, Danny, Cameron, Aunty: Jessica, as well as her other family members, home care aids, schoolmates, teachers, and daycare workers. Elena was born with congenital heart defect, and spent almost 11 years more than she should have with us. She underwent a three part heart surgery called a Fontan Procedure, and we hoped for the best. Unfortunately, there were other complications that added to the precariousness of her beginning here with us. But, her strong spirit and will to live brought her through many battles, which she won. We were always by her side for every one of them. Elena was a very happy person, and she exuded love to all that surrounded her. After suffering a stroke in March 2013, her body condition started to get worse. After a heart catheter at the H.S.C., the next day she developed pneumonia and fought for many days until her little body succumbed to the illnesses, and the creator took her back to the spirit world. Our sweetheart had a little smile on her face, as if the spirits came down and welcomed her back home immediately. We held her tightly, and told her not to worry about us, to be free, and we'll hopefully get to see her when we go back too. Wake (Thursday, September 26 at 7:00 p.m. til midnight), and funeral services (Friday, September 27 at 10:30 a.m.), at the Aboriginal Funeral Chapel (724 Selkirk Ave.) in Winnipeg, MB. All friends and family are welcome to attend. We plan to feast after the funeral services, and will let all in attendance know. We love you Elena. From this life to the next!
