Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCLAIRE THERESA CHARNE Was suddenly taken away from her family and passed away peacefully September 24, 2013 surrounded by her family. She will be greatly missed by everyone. Mom was predeceased by her loving husband Thaddeus L. Charne in 2004, her parents, Rose and John, her brothers Walter and Frank, sisters Olga, Helen and Violet. She is survived by her children Theresa Charne (Fred), Catherine Sheppard, Thaddeus Charne Jr. (Sheila), grandchildren Dustin Sheppard (Jenna), Lauren Sheppard, brother Mike, sister Ann and many nieces and nephews. Mom was born and grew up in Winnipeg where she graduated from Daniel MacIntyre Collegiate. After a brief time in the work force, she met the love of her life and married our father in 1950. Together they built a full life together and raised their family in their home where she resided until her passing. Mom's life revolved around her family and her many friends. She was a loving wife and mother and best friend to all her children. She was a member of St. John Brebeuf Catholic Parish, the Winnipeg Winter Club and active member of St. Charles Country Club. She contributed to the community in many quiet and generous ways. In her early years, she was an avid tennis and badminton player. When Mom and Dad became members of St. Charles Country Club, golf became one of her passions. Mom was an avid and active golfer often playing three times per week with her last game only days prior to being hospitalized. Mom and Dad made lasting friendships when they golfed with other couples and individuals over the years. Mom looked forward to her weekly games with her daughter and grandson. Mom enjoyed her winter golf in Palm Desert and loved to discover new courses and experiences. She loved to garden and was very good at what she did making her yard a neighbourhood show case. Other hobbies included sewing, knitting and crewel stitchery. She created many beautiful pieces which will be cherished by the family. Mom was a fantastic cook and baker and was famous for her fabulous pies. Each and every Christmas her children and grandchildren received a large platter of traditional baked treats that she had prepared with love. Sunday dinners, afternoons around the pool and impromptu barbeques were some of the many occasions the family will forever remember. Mom loved to travel and visited many exotic places with her husband and went on a variety of trips with girlfriends. She and Dad enjoyed seeing Canada when they attended various bar conventions throughout the years. The family enjoyed many happy holidays vacationing in Florida, Hawaii, California, Las Vegas and Mexico. She spent many happy summers at Gull Lake, Clear Lake and Lake of the Woods watching her children and grandchildren grow. Mom had a way of making every holiday special for each of us. The family extends special gratitude to Dr. Sharkey, the staff of Victoria Hospital and We Care. We are so saddened to hear of you mother's passing. I was at the club tonight and saw the card. It was to say the least a shock. Our deepest condolences and sympathy on this terrible loss to you and your family. Unfortunately I am in Toronto during the time of prayers and the funeral and my mom is still in Arizona.
