ALLAN WILLIAM RIEGER It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Allan William Rieger. Born on October 23, 1942 to Rosalie (Meyer) Rieger and William Rieger in Regina, Saskatchewan. Allan joined his loving Saviour on September 17, 2013 with his loving family by his side. Survived by his wife Beverley, brother Terry (Marlene), sisters Lynne Belding, Sandi Krug (Mike), Glenda Evans (Don), Gail Harding (Greg) and brother-in-law Dave McIsaac, all of Winnipeg, brother-in-law Glen Fry (Sandra) of Halifax, uncle Bob Rieger (Heather) of Regina and several nieces and nephews of whom he was very proud. Allan was predeceased by his parents, sister Carol McIsaac and brother-in-law James Belding. Allan was a feisty soul who had a unique sense of humour and was quick to make a joke. He was devoted to his faith and his church. Allan loved books, music and sports cars. He adored his dachshunds, Midge, Max and Fritz. In 1969 he received a kidney transplant at the University of Saskatoon Hospital, one of the first such operations in Canada. Allan was the fourth longest living kidney transplant from a non-living donor in the world (44 years), which he saw as a gift from God. During the last 10 years, Al faced many health challenges but he never lost his love of life and faith in God. We would like to thank Father Keith Kenific and the staff of Bevedere Funeral Home for their kindness in this time of sadness. A funeral mass was held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 21, 2013 at St. Pius X church in Charlottetown followed by a reception. Memorial donations may be made to the Manitoba Kidney Foundation.
