LEON JOSEPH JOUBERT It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing on September 26, 2013 of Léon Joseph Joubert. He was the loving husband of Gertrude (née Tétrault). In addition to his wife, mourning his loss are his children: Gilles (Elaine), Claudette, Marc, Guy (Denise) and Daniel; his grandchildren: Steve (Duana), Andy (Andi), Matt (Diane), éric Bahuaud (Margery Muench), Christine Robles (Ray), Elyse (fiancé Ryan Wood), Sébastien, Nicolas, Richard and Réjeanne; his great-grandchildren: Justin, Luke, Connor, Xavier, Beatrice and Theodore Bahuaud, Gemma and Augustin Robles, as well as many relatives and friends. His cherished grandson Robert passed away in 2012. He was born in the house built by the hands of his father and raised on the lands cultivated by his grandfather. Our dad was the salt of the earth. He was a good man. He was a devoted and loving husband and father who had a wonderful sense of humour. His family was extremely important to him. His pride and joy were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and to them he was known as Pépère and Old Pépère. He had a way of making everyone feel comfortable and if he wasn't teasing someone, the twinkle in his eye let them know he may be up to some mischief. Dad enjoyed spending time at the cottage tending to his gardens with our mom and at times they recruited the "free" labour of their children. He and mom also looked forward to people dropping by to visit and the doors at the cottage as well as those at home were always open to everyone. A graduate of Normal School, University of Ottawa (B.A.) and University of Manitoba (B. Ed.) our dad started his career as a teacher and guidance counsellor with the First Nations. His career in education spanned almost three decades until his retirement as an assistant school superintendent. Although he had spent many years in administration, he always said that his happiest years were in the classroom. And so we were not at all surprised to learn that a few years following retirement dad took up a temporary teaching position at Ecole Provencher. Although we are heartbroken at the loss of this man we recognize that we were so very privileged to have known him and we will never forget our husband, dad, Pépère and Old Pépère. Our love continues and that can never be extinguished. The family wishes to thank the staff, volunteers and residents at La Résidence Despins for the compassion and friendship extended toward dad and mom over the years, and in particular after mom moved to the Taché Centre. We also wish to recognize the home care attendants who assisted him with some daily routines. In addition, our deepest appreciation is extended to all first responders, nursing and medical staff who were there for dad in recent years. We also wish to give a very big hug to Dr. Michelle Grzybowski at the Centre de Santé. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at the St. Boniface Cathedral, 190 avenue de la Cathédrale, Saint-Boniface, Manitoba on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 10:00 a.m beginning with the eulogy at 9:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada at www.heartandstroke.ca. Outre son épouse, Papa laisse dans le deuil ses enfants: Gilles (Elaine), Claudette, Marc, Guy (Denise) et Daniel; ses petits-enfants : Steve (Duana), Andy (Andi), Matt (Diane), éric Bahuaud (Margery Muench), Christine Robles (Ray), Elyse (fiancé Ryan Wood), Sébastien, Nicolas, Richard et Réjeanne; ainsi que ses arrière-petits-enfants: Justin, Luke, Connor, Xavier, Beatrice et Theodore Bahuaud, Gemma et Augustin Robles. Son cher petit-fils, Robert, est décédé en 2012. Il laisse aussi ses soeurs Marguerite et Rose (feu Léopold), son frère Denis (feu Dorothée), ses belles-soeurs: Huguette Filion (feu Aimé) et Hélène (feu Robert Tétrault) Catellier, de nombreux neveux et nièces, cousins et cousines et ami(e)s. Papa fut prédécédé par ses parents, Xavier et Eléonore; ses frères et ses belles-soeurs: Joseph (Hélène), Jean-Marie (Marguerite), Louis (Aurise), Augustin et Michel, et sa soeur et son beau-frère Jeanne Vinet (Frank). également, il fut prédécédé par sa belle-famille Tétrault: Zéphyrin (Lina), Jeanne, Edgar (Rita), Arthur (Marie-Paule), Marguerite Laroche (Edmond), Fernand (Edmée) et Robert. Les funérailles seront célébrées le samedi 5 octobre 2013 en la Cathédrale Saint-Boniface, 190 avenue de la Cathédrale à Saint-Boniface au Manitoba dès 10h00, commençant par l'éloge à 9h45.
