CAROLE AUDREY SHARON BACKMAN (nee HIEBERT) November 10, 1945 - September 28, 2013 With great sadness we announce that Carole has succumbed to her lengthy battle with Ovarian Cancer. Her passing was both peaceful and painfree in her own bed in La Quinta, California. Carole was born in Manitoba but moved to Coquitlam, BC with Al in 1975 where the family developed a little dealership group and her children and grandchildren have grown up. She is survived by her husband Al, daughters Erika and Andrea, granddaughters Megan and Rebecca, grandsons Rory and Owen and brother Tom and sister-in-law BJ. A very special thanks to her dear friends Teri and Adri who have done so much to care for and comfort Carole and her family over the last five years and to BJ who has given so much nursing, care and loving this year. Carole will also be sadly missed by her close friends, niece Karen and all of her extended family both through marriage and the marriage of her children. We will miss her loving care, culinary expertise and wonderful sense of humour. Special thanks to the Mayo Clinic and Eisenhower Organization in their effort to battle this disease in ways the Canadian medical system just could and would not. Without them we would have lost precious and valuable years. Also a special thanks to Dr. Stephen Barron and all the staff in the palliative care ward at Burnaby General Hospital who were all so kind and compassionate. Celebration of Life details to follow.
