CAROL IRENE WRIGHT Carol Wright passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at the age of 59 years at the Seven Region Health Centre in Gladstone. Carol was born in Couchenour, Ontario on November 17, 1953. She was raised in Winnipeg, attending St. John's High School and Garden City Collegiate. She worked full time for Attractions Ticket Office and went to the University of Winnipeg in the evenings where she graduated with a BA in Economics. In 1972 she married Wayne Wright of Winnipeg. They have been happily married for 41 years. Carol became a CGA graduate in 1988 and shortly afterward they moved with all their English Cocker Spaniels to Plumas, Manitoba, as Carol became the Director of Finance at Seven Regions Health Centre in Gladstone, Manitoba. After eight years she wanted to work for herself and remain in Plumas so in 1997 she created the KickAss Country Store. It was here that she found her stride in creativity and business. The quilting community in Manitoba and across Canada responded to her effort and creative talent. She was very grateful. In business and in quilting she loved to show others the easiest method to complete a project. When she had spare time, she loved to read mystery and science fiction. Carol will be lovingly remembered by her mother Anne Hyworon of Plumas, MB; brother Dale Hyworon of Oliver, BC and husband Wayne Wright of Plumas, MB. Carol was predeceased by her father Boris Hyworon of Winnipeg. Special thanks to CancerCare at St. Boniface Hospital, Neepawa Cancer Care, and Palliative Care at Seven Regions Health Centre, Gladstone. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service to honour Carol's life will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Knox United Church in Plumas with Wendy Denbow officiating. Carol has asked that those who wish to donate in her memory, to make a quilt and give it to someone in need, or support an animal shelter of their choice. "When life hands you lemons, make lemon-aid" (her favourite quote) Clarke's Funeral Home, Gladstone~MacGregor in care of arrangements. www.clarkesfuneralhome.com

Wayne, what a shock! I knew Carol from GCCI, and it was such a pleasure to reconnect at the MPQ quilt show a couple of years ago, and then to come out to the store. My heartfelt condolences on your loss. May she rest in peace, free of pain. Pat Krywonizka acquaintance from high school - Posted by: Pat Krywonizka (Aquaintance) on: Oct 05, 2013

I have lots of memories of Carol. Our working days in the early 90s, our mutual love for our precious critters, her dry wit and optimistic outlook on life in general. I am truly sorry for your great loss Wayne. - Posted by: Donna Cymbalist (past co-worker) on: Oct 05, 2013

Dear Wayne, and Carol's family, No words will ease your pain but please know that within Carol's extended family of quilters she will be ever so sorely missed. We are so lucky she found her true calling in life and we, her stitching friends, were the loving recipients of her talents, suggestions, fabric choices and assistance at the store. May wonderful memories sustain us all through this way too early loss of a wonderful woman. I will honour her wish for a cuddle quilt for my local shelter!
