REGINALD CHOPP On September 30, 2013, after a brief battle with lung cancer, Reg succumbed to the disease peacefully and with minimal pain. He leaves to cherish his memory his three girls - longtime partner Marlene, daughter Pam (Frank), and granddaughter Janelle, the light of his life. Reg was predeceased by his son Jason in 2001, as well as his parents Al and Betty Siemers. Most of Reg's career was in the sales industry until retiring from Bradford Brokers, a company he purchased at the age of 50. Reg enjoyed travelling to Florida for many years and loved being able to take his granddaughter from the time she was nine months of age until his last trip in 2006. He was also known to make many a trip to Las Vegas over the years. Reg loved to watch all sports. He was an excellent baseball player in his day and quite the hitter! He was the lone Canadian to be selected to the All Star Team in Western Canadian Baseball in 1954. Something he was very proud of was being inducted into the MB Baseball Hall of Fame - first as a member of the Fort Whyte team and later in 2001 as an individual player. In his last weeks friends he hadn't seen in a long time visited him which we know meant a lot to him. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the staff at Riverview Health Centre who provided Reg with the best care and always made him as comfortable as possible. We will miss you Dad, but we know you are at peace now. We have consolation in knowing you will be reunited with Jason. Give him a big hug for us. In honouring Reg's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family gathering has been held. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. He was the father of one of my best childhood friends, Jason. I remember him as a very kind man with a loud infectious laugh. I even did a road trip with him to Phoenix when I was in grade 5. Jason was allowed to take a friend and he chose me. We went to some spring training baseball games. I caught a baseball believe it or not. Mr. Chopp also coached us in little league baseball. RIP Reg and say hi to Jason for our family the Tait's. - Posted by: Steve Tait (Friends Father) on: Oct 05, 2013
