MERLINE (MARILYN) DARBYSHIRE Our hearts are heavy and sad as we announce the sudden passing of our wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt on Sunday, September 29, 2013. Merline, also known to her family and friends as Marilyn, was born May 24, 1940. She resided in Portage la Prairie, MB for over 20 years where she raised her three daughters - Carolyn (Rod), Karen (Frank), and Cheryl (Tony), whom she was devoted too. She will be sadly missed by her five grandchildren; her many brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews. She was a great inspiration to many as she played a sport she was passionate about. Merline came to win many 'spiels in the 1970s and 1980s and skipped her teams to two Provincial Women's Curling Championships in 1974 and 1985. Merline moved out to Vancouver Island to enjoy her grandkids and the outdoors. In the time she was there, she traveled the island and down the coast of Oregon. Her and her husband Doug, would scour the island for old barns, wildlife and antiques. She loved to fish and go boating. Merline will be sadly missed as she touched all our lives in a special way. She has left us with a feeling of emptiness in our hearts, her gentle touch will be with us forever. Private services will be held for family.
