DARRELL JOHN FONTAINE February 25, 1965 - October 2, 2013 Wabshka Pegikeence: White Buffalo Darrell was taken suddenly from this earth to be with his Creator and Lord after some time in the hospital. Funeral service will follow at the Thunderbird House on Monday, October 7, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Augustine and Father Malachy officiating. Interment at Brookside Cemetery. Darrell was predeceased by his parents Stan and Elizabeth Fontaine, sisters Virginia, Maxine, and Anne and his brother Arnold. He leaves to mourn his passing sisters Bertha (Marcel), Irma, Ingrid (John) and Iris; brothers Stan, Barry, and Derry, with numerous nieces and nephews and relatives. Darrell will be missed for his great dedication and work towards Native Addictions Council of Manitoba. Darrell also had an extensive contribution to the Indigenous cultural community at large with his drumming and singing. He was also trained in business administration and knew the ropes of statistics and report writing. Darrell will be sadly missed for his great sense of humor it was to be expected as he was the younger brother of "Koko" or Arnold. Darrell realized the importance of family in the years before his demise. He realized that the Creator made families for togetherness and love and that we are related to families, even, in the afterlife, as we leave this world. The family is a fundamental creation for a healthy life. Healthy families are grounded in good value systems, in nurturing, good communication and family activities for bonding. So was Darrell's discovery. Darrell we will always love you and we look forward to meeting you again with our big family in the afterlife. May God bless. "There is beauty in the forest When the trees are green and fair. There is beauty in the meadows When wild flowers scent the air. There is beauty in the sunlight And soft blue beams above. Oh, the world is full of beauty When the heart is full of love." -Author Unknown Memorial donations can be made in Darrell's name to the Thunderbird House for Homeless People, 715 Main Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3B 3N7.
