MARY JULIA (MINNIE) KOSMUK (nee NAFOSTOWICZ ) On Wednesday, October 2, 2013, our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, widow of the late George Kosmuk, passed away surrounded by her family. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister Victoria (Vivian) Stepnuk; daughters JoAnn Negrych (David), Marilyn Loden (late Brian), son George Kosmuk Jr. (Jill); grandchildren Jan-Marie/Puddy Fernandes (Joe), David Negrych Jr. (Agatha), Jonathan Negrych, Brian Loden Jr., Shawn Kosmuk (Jasmine), Jane Negrych-Fidgeon (Cameron), Patrick Loden, Stacey Kosmuk (Darryl) and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband George; parents John and Katherine Nafostowicz; sisters Bertha Rusak and Josephine Skoleski; brother Stephen Nafostowicz; niece Caroline Cobb and nephew Eugene Skoleski. Born in Winnipeg on July 7, 1921, Minnie grew up in Point Douglas attending Isaac Newton and Holy Ghost School from which she graduated in 1939. Mary and George were married in 1940 and raised their three children in Winnipeg's North End. She was employed by Scott National for 35 years, retiring in 1986. She delighted in her cottage at Winnipeg Beach right up until the week of her passing. Minnie was a member of St. Anthony's of Padua Parish and the C.W.L. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, as well as her grandson-in-law Joe Fernandes. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Burrin Avenue, at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 8, with viewing prior to the service. Special thanks are extended to Dr. Moncek and the compassionate staff on the 5th Floor, Unit 6, of Seven Oaks Hospital.
