LUCY MARIA PHILOMENE ZABALOTNUK (formerly FALK - nee ROBINSON) October 27, 1921 - October 9, 2013 Quietly and peacefully at the Concordia Hospital the angels came to take our mother home. Waiting for her will be her parents Joseph and Victoria (Desmarais), husband Fred, son Dennis Stuart, brothers and sisters. Mom was born in Amaranth, MB and attended the Residential School for eight years. Mom never forgot what happened to her at school but, she forgave and moved on. Mom was very proud of her Native Heritage and was a staunch Catholic. While in her teens mom wanted to be a nurse but that meant going to Regina to study and leaving her parents, whom she would miss very much so she gave up her dream to stay closer to home. Mom was a member/elder at St. Kateri Church for many years. She enjoyed greeting the people at the door with a BIG hug with her friend Mary Pangman. After services everyone would gather downstairs for coffee and cake and togetherness. Mom is survived by daughters Lucille, Jenny (Dale) Lamoureux of Grand Marais, MB, Marlene (James) Blond of Winnipeg, MB, son Larry (Theresa) Falk of Winnipeg, MB; grandsons Darren, Barry and Patrick; granddaughters Carol, Sandra, Ainsley and Melisa; great-grandsons John, Kameron, Austin, Jared, David, Ryley, Robyn, Benjamin. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. also at the Chapel. The family would like to thank the excellent care given to our mother at the Middlechurch home, especially Rozelle and Heidi. In memory of Lucy donations may be made to CancerCare or to the Alzheimers Society in lieu of flowers.
