ANNIE LUCHISHIN (nee CIESZECKI) December 18, 1922-October 4, 2013 It is with saddened hearts that our family announces the sudden passing of Annie; beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt in Winnipeg, MB on October 4, 2013, at the age of 90. Annie will forever be lovingly remembered by her; daughters, Helen Hamilton, Doreen, and Irene Bentham (Scott); grandchildren, Todd (Cindy) and James, great-grandchildren Joel and Emma, sister Dorothy (Pete), sister-in-law Mary, many nephews, nieces and friends. Annie was predeceased by her husband James Kuba Luchishin, sister Mary Kasmerski (Mac), brothers John Cieszecki (Helen), Michael Carr (Stephie) and Tony Cieszecki. Annie grew up on the family farm in Dencross, RM of Brokenhead, MB where she married James and raised three daughters. In the 1950s the family moved to Winnipeg where she worked for Simpson-Sears and the Metropolitan Theatre until her retirement. Annie loved to cross stitch and created beautiful detailed pieces of artwork. She loved tending to her annual garden of vegetables; beets, carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, cabbage and garlic. She made the best borscht, perogies, piroshki, cabbage rolls, jams, jellies, pies, sauerkraut and pickles and we all ate the fruits from her labor. She enjoyed feeding the birds and the bunnies in her yard. Plants and flowers of beautiful colors, shapes and sizes were always part of her home inside and out. Annie not only raised her daughters but was able to help with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Annie was very caring, loving, patient and forgiving to all that knew her. She always gave more than she had. Annie was a friend, companion, and confidant and in her quiet gentle way the family matriarch. She would tell us that she loved us and pray to our Lord to bestow upon us good health, happiness, love and peace. By the Grace of God, Annie was that special person we can only hope to one day personify in character and deeds. Annie is now in the house of our Lord, God bless you. Funeral Service will be held Friday, October 18, 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
