MARY PATRICIA KOOYMAN (nee WRAY) September 24, 1924 - September 30, 2013 Pat Kooyman passed away peacefully in her sleep in Victoria at the age of 89. Pat was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the daughter of Frank and Annie Wray. Pat married Burt Kooyman in 1951 and they raised their family in Winnipeg and Calgary. As a young girl Pat loved summers at Grand Beach on Lake Winnipeg and winters skating on the rivers in Winnipeg. She was the glue that held together our circle of far-flung family and friends, from New Zealand to Iceland, and from Europe to Winnipeg and the West Coast. Nothing epitomizes this better than the "group" phone calls across Canada and the world that came with every family gathering. Pat kept her friends and family amused with her dry sense of humour and a strong cup of coffee. She always had a good book on hand and the radio tuned to CBC. In their retirement Pat and Burt moved to Victoria where they loved the sea and ocean views over Victoria harbour. Pat was predeceased by her husband Burt and her brother Laurie.
