GLEN GEORGE ELLIS March 19, 1955 - September 24, 2013 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our brother in Sechelt, BC after his long health battle. Glen leaves to mourn his sister Marilyn with husband Jindrich Jares (Jay) and daughter Cathy, sister Carol and many aunts, uncles, cousins and good friends. Glen was predeceased by his father George, mother Dorothy, sister Cathy and grandparents Edward and Doris Low and Joseph and Elizabeth Ellis. Glen was born in Russell, Manitoba and his family moved to Winnipeg in 1957 but he spent many vacations and holidays at his grandparents' farms in Foxwarren. Glen worked as a bartender for many years before switching careers to work as a library technician for the City of Winnipeg until his retirement in 2011. Glen loved books, gardening, bowling, genealogy, travelling and getting together with friends and family. Glen moved with his parents to an acreage in the R. M. of Cartier where their love of gardening transformed the two acre field into one of the most admired gardens in the community. Glen was able to combine many of his interests when he travelled a few times with his sisters to Britain. Many enjoyable hours were spent searching for family graves, walking through beautiful gardens and churchyards and even having to buy another suitcase on one trip to bring home all the purchases made after discovering a town full of used book stores. Glen and his sister Carol moved to BC in 2011 to be closer to Marilyn and her family. Glen's quiet, gentle nature and quirky manner will be greatly missed. At Glen's request, there will be no funeral but a celebration of his life will be arranged in Winnipeg in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the BC Cancer Foundation or a charity of your choice. He'd love you to plant a flower.
