Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRUTH ELITTA NOKES (nee SWANSON) 1924-2013 Peacefully Ruth Elitta Nokes passed away on October 11, 2013 at Extendicare Oakview Place. Ruth was predeceased by her husband Walter Harold Nokes, her parents and sister. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Eleeta (Kerry), Patricia (Bruce), and Rose Marie (Tekoa), granddaughters Alana (Kelsey) and Apaula, as well as many other family and friends. Mom was born in 1924 in the Gladstone area and moved to Winnipeg as a young adult. Ruth raised a family, became an LPN and worked at Deer Lodge Centre, retiring at age 70. She was an active member of St. James Anglican Church. The family would like to thank the wonderful, caring staff at Extendicare Oakview Place. "Mom, we will miss you and cherish the memories". In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba. Prayers will be said 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 18, 2013 at St. James Anglican Church, 195 Collegiate Street. I am deeply sorry to read about Ruth's passing. I just read her obituary and that is one of the reasons why you are just hearing from me now. I never had the opportunity to make it back to Winnipeg to see everyone, especially Ruth. I wish you all the best and I am sure it will be difficult being the first Christmas without Ruth. My thoughts and prayers are with the Nokes family. I grew up knowing Ruth's children, Eleeta, Patrica and Rose Marie. I remember your mom as a forthright and straight forward person. May your memories of her comfort you at this time. She is continuing her journey of understanding who she really is.
