Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROSE PENNY ANDREWS (nee PENNY) We are sad to announce that Rose passed away at Saskatoon's University Hospital on October 12, 2013 at the age of 87. She died just the way she lived, peacefully and with dignity. She was the last of her generation, predeceased by sisters Peggy, Anna and Jean, brother Lawrence and twin Betty. Born in Winnipeg on January 10, 1926 and raised on a farm near Winnipeg, she attended business college, then found work at Willson's Stationery, where she fell for a handsome, zoot-suited salesman. She and Bob were married in Winnipeg March 1952 and moved to Prince Albert, where dad had found a good job with the CNR. Bob Jr. was born in June 1953, followed at four-year intervals by sisters Kelly and Tracy. Dad's job transfer brought us to Saskatoon in 1969. He died in 1989, and mom stayed on in the house on Klaehn Crescent. She mowed grass and shovelled snow, and at 63 she learned to drive. Friends mentioned her courage for venturing fearlessly downtown. She had many interests: her grandchildren, reading, the YWCA walking group, lifting weights at the gym, and university classes for seniors. She and dad were charter members of the Saskatchewan Head Injury association after Tracy suffered a brain injury in a 1982 car accident. Mom had several bouts with cancer over the years, a broken hip and later a broken pelvis however she always bounced back up, marching cheerfully onward like the Everready bunny. About four years ago she moved to Oliver Place and loved it there. She is survived by her children Bob Jr. (Margaret Day), Kelly (Paul) Ericson, Tracy Andrews; grandchildren Graham (Kendal) Ericson, Kirsten (Tevita Lui), Nathan and Evan Ericson and great-grandchild Ned. Also brother-in-law Bert (Betty) Andrews and numerous nieces and nephews. Although she was "a tough old Scot", Rose was always quiet, kind and soft-spoken, and she will be missed by all who loved her. The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 18, at Windsor Chapel, 704 Windsor Street (8th Avenue N and Windsor Street) with President Doug Robertson presiding. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations appreciated to Oliver Lodge Angels of Care (1405 Faulkner Cres. Saskatoon, SK S7L 3R5). Arrangements in care of John Schachtel - MOURNING GLORY FUNERAL SERVICES, Saskatoon, SK (306-978-5200) www.mourningglory.ca
