He was born and raised in Winnipeg, MB, the eldest son of John Wesley and Stella Mary Bowes. Dad was a loving and devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be fondly remembered and missed by his familydaughters Judi and Mike Andrews of Parksville, BC, and Jerri and Don Hall of Winnipeg, MB; son Roger and Mags Shorey of Oakville, ON; cherished grandchildren Mike (Christine) and Shaun Andrews, Derek (Lisa) and Patrick (Charla) Hall, Susie (Jamie List), Preston (Stephanie) and David Shorey; twelve great-grandchildren; his brother George and Kit Bowes of Oakville; sister-in-law, Lois Anderson of Winnipeg and many nieces and nephews. In 1939, dad enlisted as a Lieutenant in the Canadian Army and held the rank of Major when the war ended. He was Senior Supply Officer of the 4th Canadian Armoured Division and in 1946 was awarded the prestigious MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) for his outstanding contributions to Logistics Planning during the Second World War. He was a dedicated employee of Domglas Ltd. for 49 years and upon retirement began a consulting career representing ARC in Oakville, and establishing Customs Consultants and AG Bowes and Associates, Inc. at which he worked until his late 80s. He was an Honorary Life Member of the Medicine Hat Curling Club, a member of the Medicine Hat Masonic Lodge, a member and past president of the Lachine Curling Club, and a curling member of the Burlington Golf Club. Dad was lucky in love and was predeceased by his two wives, Amy Lymburner (dec. 1967) and Margaret "Margie" Bestow Shorey (dec. 2000). The family will celebrate his life and hold a private Service of Remembrance in November. Thank you to the Palliative Care Team in OTMH who was so supportive and caring to our dad and our family during his last days. In lieu of flowers donations to The Oakville Hospital Foundation, Palliative Care Unit, 327 Reynolds Street, Oakville, ON, L6J 3L7, would be greatly appreciated.
