LESLIE MCKAY Leslie Jane McKay passed peacefully, with her partner, Blaine McKay at her side at the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit on October 17, 2013. Surviving Leslie are her son Bryan Malo (Penny), her grandson Brody and granddaughters Kayla and Skyla, her mother Gail Hallonquist, her brother John Hallonquist (Lynne, Erin, Chris), her sister Kathryn Hermary (Marcel) and her aunt Judy Danbert and family. She is also survived by Blaine McKay and his family, good friends in Winnipeg and the Island Lake area. She will be especially missed by her life-long, best friend Lori Torgerson. She was predeceased by her father, Wayne Hallonquist, both sets of grandparents and her aunt Verna Hallonquist. Leslie was born October 14, 1954. She had been living in Winnipeg for the past two years, after spending a few years with her friends "up North" at the Island Lakes communities. She also lived in Calgary and Ft. McMurray with Winnipeg as her home in between her many adventures. Leslie loved a competitive card game, a good book, listening to a wildly eclectic choice of music, and spending time with friends and family. She was constantly surrounded by her very many pets, whom she loved as much as life itself. Our family would like to extend a very special thank you to the wonderful staff at the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit for the care and compassion given to Leslie during her struggles. While her disease could not be cured, the nurses and doctors helped heal the rest of her family. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 23 at 11:00 am at Voyage Funeral Home in Evangel Chapel, 1073 St. Mary's Road. Viewing will take place one half hour prior to service. VOYAGE FUNERAL HOME, (204) 284-7500
