Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLESLIE ELMER LEMBKE In Loving Memory of Leslie Elmer Lembke Peacefully, on October 20, 2013, at the age of 81, Leslie Lembke departed this world to join his sister, Agnes EisBrenner (née Lembke), and brother, Wallace Lembke, his parents, Fritz and Kathleen Lembke. Leslie will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his nephews Glenn (Judy) and Doug (Cathy), niece Cheryl (Bob); great-nieces and nephews Tracie (Leigh), Lisa, Jason, Erin, Tyson (Esther), Adam, Luke (Lisa), Trevor, David (Kelly), Chantal (Jonny), and Charisse (Jeremy); and many extended family members and friends. Leslie was predeceased by his brother, Wallace Lembke, and sister, Agnes Wilhelmina (née Lembke). Great-greatniece Mikhaila will miss Leslies smiles and hugs. As a young boy, Leslie enjoyed working on the farm, stooking sheaves, pitching grain, carrying five gallon pails of well water to the house and helping his beloved brother Wallace. Leslie was fondly known as a hard-working, determined, and quirky character, who regaled his family with stories of his life experiences. Leslie spent many years raising cattle, even sewing coats for the young calves and baling oak leaves to feed wild deer. Leslie worked on the Emerson Hospital and Emerson Customs as a master carpenter in his earlier healthier years and declined a foreman's position in Winnipeg, preferring to stay on the farm. Leslie excelled throughout his school years, writing fluently by grade one. Leslie retired from grain farming after the 1997 flood, but continued to raise cattle which he treated like children. Leslie, may God grant you eternal peace and happiness in the company of your loved ones. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 25, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 15 second Street in Emerson, Manitoba. Luncheon will be held at New Horizons, 106 Church Street in Emerson

I will always remember the summer as a teenager that I spent with Leslie. He taught me how to drive the tractor, collect bales from the field and stack them in the barn. He even showed me how to weld (although I didn't do very well)! He always had stories to tell which made for some interesting conversations. Leslie, your strong will, perseverance, ingenuity and hard-work ethic will be something I remember. Thanks for the memories. - Posted by: Tyson EisBrenner (Great-Nephew) on: Oct 25, 2013

I remember Leslie from when I was very young. My father (Glenn EisBrenner) would take me to visit Leslie and Wallace on the farm. Leslie and Wallace would give me a box of graham crackers to snack on which made me extremely happy as I had a sweet tooth for cookies and such. I would sit there on the kitchen floor eating them while Leslie told my dad and I story after story. Leslie was very skilled at inventing machines and making them out of spare parts he had laying around. Leslie showed us a dune buggy he had built out of random parts from vehicles and farm equipment that had broken down. Leslie was also a very strong man. I watched him effortlessly throw hay bales 10 feet up on the stack with a pitchfork. He was a quirky character who loved to talk for hours when we visited him and I was always fascinated by his stories! Leslie you were a good man and we miss you very much! I know you are in a happier place now. Rest in peace. - Posted by: Jason EisBrenner (Great-Nephew) on: Oct 24, 2013

Leslie was a rock for all of my life. He was always there, quietly in the background, sharing my triumphs and times of grief and hardship. His well embellished stories are of family legend, as is his gentleness toward all forms of life. His knowledge of the natural world gave me a base for my future in the scientific world. His influence in my life was gigantic and I can truly say I stand metaphorically on the shoulders of a great man. - Posted by: Cheryl Crane (neice) on: Oct 24, 2013
