ETHEL ALICE MAGEE (MOGGEY) It is with great sadness that the family of Ethel Alice Magee announce her passing on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at the University of Alberta Hospital, Edmonton, Alberta. She was 88 years of age. Born in 1925 in Wawanesa, Manitoba, Ethel was one of the seven children of Russell and Emma Moggey. In 1943 she enlisted in the Women's Royal Canadian Naval Service achieving the standing of Leading Wren. While stationed in Ottawa she met and married her wonderful husband and best friend Bob in 1944. After the war they settled in Winnipeg to raise their family. Following his retirement, Ethel and Bob travelled extensively, working tirelessly for the Fort Garry Kiwanis. She was a gracious First Lady to his Kiwanis Governorship of Western Canada. Following his death, she moved to Whitecourt, Alberta to live with her daughter and son-in-law where she spent her last summers at the lake enjoying the flowers, birds and wildlife with a smile and the sun on her face. Ethel was an avid knitter and baker; her children and grandchildren were the constant recipients of her cookies and crafts. Ethel was predeceased by her parents and siblings, her eldest daughter Shelagh St. Godard in 1994 and her loving husband Bob in 2006. She will be forever remembered by her son Earl and wife Valerie of Winnipeg, her daughter Joan Berthelette and husband Brian of Whitecourt, Alberta, her seven grandchildren; Cheryl, Leigh-Anne, Kristen, Meghann. Sean, Erin and Jennalee, their families, her little buddy Bailey, her cousins and numerous nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place and a private family memorial is planned for the spring.
