LORAINE DEMCHUK Loraine Demchuk passed away with family and Rev. Gordon Jackson by her side on October 21, 2013 after a long and courageous battle with multiple system atrophy. She will be greatly missed by her five children and their spouses, 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren as well as one sister and numerous nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by loyal and loving friends from St. Mark's Anglican Church in Winnipeg, many friends in the Benito area and friends that she made at Bowview Manor as well as the assisted living home in Airdrie. Loraine enjoyed working with children and during young adulthood she was a teacher. While she raised five children, she helped run the pharmacy in Benito where her husband Mod was the pharmacist. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, long walks and summers at Madge Lake with her family. Her garden and yard were her pride and joy! She was an avid reader who was interested in world events and politics. Loraine and Mod loved to explore and travelled to many parts of the world, learning about other people and cultures. Late in life she chose to take evening courses to further her education and knowledge of the Anglican faith. She also tutored refugee children from Africa to help them learn the English language. These children became a very special part of her family. Special thanks to all the staff at Bowview Manor who treated mom as a person and were there to treat and comfort her with the loving care and support that she needed. Also, special thanks for the incredible care that she received at the assisted living home in Airdrie. You were all awesome! Moms will always be mom's and we need them all the time. Now ours will be with us day and night but in a different way and we can always count on her by our side. Rest in peace mom as you are now with your Christ as well as dad. May you dance for hours in the fields of flowers. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Children's Wish Foundation.
