DR. GLEN CLANCY ACHESON
Born: Jul 13, 1922
Date of Passing: Oct 18, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDR. GLEN CLANCY ACHESON July 13, 1922 - October 18, 2013 After a long and courageous battle with multiple medical problems endured with courage and dignity, Glen passed away peacefully at Deer Lodge Veterans Centre. Glen will be deeply missed by his children, Lesley (Fred) Foster, Robert (Marilyn Olson) and Barbara (Bob) Letchford; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was a loving father, grandfather and great- grandfather (or GG as he was fondly known), who fully enjoyed our large family celebrations. He was outgoing and fun loving and was known for playing the piano at parties with many friends, keeping things lively. Born in Winnipeg, Glen attended St. John's where he met his beloved wife, Jean Sallstrom. They both sang in the operetta where he first noticed her. Before meeting her he told his friend that he was going to marry that girl. They were married for almost 64 years, when Jean passed away in December of 2007. She was the love of his life and he of hers. Glen joined the Royal Canadian Air Force as a pilot seconded to the Royal Air Force in England. This took him to many parts of the world while serving in the Second World War. After the Air Force, Glen enjoyed a long career as an optometrist with the T. Eaton Co. He was also a long time member of the Masons and Toastmasters. In his off time he enjoyed golfing at Breezy Bend. Upon his retirement Glen and Jean did their golfing in Florida and met many new friends. He quite often would say those were the best years of his life. We are honouring Glen's wishes that there be no service and his family will gather to remember him privately. He will be laid to rest at Brookside Cemetery alongside his loving wife, Jean. The family would like to thank the staff at the Deer Lodge Centre who took good care of Dad. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Glen's memory to a charity of your choice. "Uncle" Glen along with Aunt Jean, Doonie & Ken, Norm & Flora and my parents, Jean & Cam were a group of friends that allowed us kids to experience life as a large "family". I fondly remember days at the lake with Uncle Glen and Uncle Ken & Dad sailing, swimming and enjoying life. God speed Uncle Glen. Bob - Posted by: Bob Sharman (sudo nephew) on: Nov 07, 2013

Glen was always cheerful. Sorry he won't be around us. All of us have an end to life. It is only wise to be prepared to meet God. Amos 4:12 - Posted by: Lawrence Harman ( just a neighbour at Vasa Lund Estates) on: Oct 26, 2013
