DOREEN JEAN SMITH (nee GUTOSKI) December 19, 1937 October 18, 2013 On October 18, on Vancouver Island, with deep sadness, Dodie moved on to once again be with the love of her life, Jimmy. Dodie will be missed by her sisters Phyllis (Roy), Beverly (Raymond) brother Ronald, also daughter Charlene, sons Dan (Laurie) and Sean (Tracy), and grandchildren Stephanie, Nathan, Aaron, Steve, Cara, and Dylan, great-grand-children Chase, Hunter, Aynsleigh, and Elias, and many nieces and nephews. Dodie was predeceased by her parents Angus and Winnie Gutoski, sisters Margaret and Kay, and her husband Jimmy. Dodie loved taking care of people and spent her career at the Winnipeg Children's Hospital as a nurse, treating every child as if it were one of her own. Dodie and Jimmy loved having family parties and always instilled into every soul they encountered; live, love, laugh. No services are planned at this time. Flowers are graciously declined.

  • Just wanted to pass on that I worked with Dodie at Children's back in the 70's. She was a great mentor and inspiration to a new grad as myself. I continue to be at Children's (40 years) and thank her for preparing me for what has been a great career. She always brought laughter to our work and wanted to pass on how wonderful a person she was. My condolences to all of you. - Posted by: Doris Girardin (Past co-worker) on: Nov 02, 2013

  • Dodie and I worked together on 4-north at Childrens Hosp. for many years in the mid 1970's. She was always upbeat, full of energy, and kind to all. We spent many long 12 hour shifts together. I remember Dodie loving to eat crackers and butter on night shifts, but mostly how she lovingly talked about her family. She would light up when she talked about her children....when it came to Jimmy...she absolutely beamed..her love for her husband was profound. I feel privileged to have known Dodie. My sincerest condolences to the family. Maureen Glacken - Posted by: Maureen Glacken (co-worker) on: Oct 26, 2013

  • I am so sorry to hear of Aunty Dodie's passing. My fondest memories are those get togethers at Grandma and Grandpa's where they were the life of the party. There's a party going on in heaven right now I bet. To all of you: Take Care and God Bless. - Posted by: Larry Smith (Nephew) on: Oct 26, 2013
