STEWART HADLEY WARD June 7, 1923 - October 12, 2013 Hadley was born and raised in Edmonton and served in the RCAF during the Second World War. He later trained as a teacher and a librarian. In 1968, he moved to Manitoba where he taught in Austin, Cranberry Portage, Leaf Rapids and Norway House. In Leaf Rapids he held the unique job of joint school-public librarian and in Norway House he was school librarian at Jack River School. He was well-liked by colleagues and students in all these positions. After retiring in 1983, he moved to Winnipeg. He had a deep and abiding love of nature, and over the next years spent many happy hours at the family cottage at Manigotagan. He also made many friends in Winnipeg, took part in activities at the RehFit Centre and took many trips with the CAA travel group. In 2004, he decided to move to White Rock in BC to be near family. His years there were happy ones, but his health deteriorated and two years ago he moved into a nursing home. He died there peacefully in his sleep. Hadley is survived by his wife Wilda, his son David (Elaine), grandsons Matthew, Jonathan and Daniel, and several nephews and their families. At his request, there will be no funeral, instead a Celebration of Life will be held by his family. If people wish to make a donation in Hadley's memory, the family asks that it be made to the Parkinson Society.
