GEORGE MCMATH Peacefully on October 19, 2013, George passed away at home with his family at his side. George fought a courageous and brief battle with cancer refusing to give up. He fought up to, and including his last day, acknowledging family members just hours before his death. George and Barbara celebrated 40 years of marriage in May 2013. Living in Winnipeg for many years and enjoying his career at Manitoba Hydro for 31 years (Station Design), George and Barbara moved to Oakville, Ontario in 2009 for new adventure. George's time in Oakville was short lived, however, his outlook on life allowed him to embrace his time. His early retirement allowed him to enjoy his woodworking and spend time with his three sons. He is survived by wife Barbara, sons, John (wife and goddaughter Crystal), Dave (common law Carol Crepic), and youngest son Chris. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tyler, Breeanna, Jayda, Kyle and mother-in-law Jean Slobodzian. George was predeceased by his parents Alice and Jack McMath and brother Jim. At George's request, a private family funeral was held in Oakville, Ontario on October 22, 2013.
