Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARTA ARNDT (nee FRANCK) It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Marta Arndt, 82, of Winnipeg, on Monday, October 28, 2013 at the Victoria General Hospital. Marta was born on October 8, 1931 in Romania to Johann and Karolina Franck and immigrated to Canada as a young woman. Marta is survived by her children, Carmen (Richard) Arndt of Toronto and her son, Roland (Kathy) Montrose of Gabriola, BC. She is also survived by her sisters Hilda Binczek and Friedl Zupan, many loving nieces, nephews, in-laws and cousins as well as her dearest friends, Gerda Sickert and Vicki Jowett. Marta will be remembered most for her sense of humour, her strength and kindness and her unparalleled generosity to everyone. She took great pride in the life she built for herself and her independence and loved to entertain friends and family with her incredible culinary talents. Marta also had a passion for playing cards, bingo, shuffle board and the game of horseshoes in her younger years. In the last few years she enjoyed volunteering for the Faith Lutheran Church quilting blankets for those in need. The family would like to thank the kind staff of Victoria General Hospital, Deacon Kris Taylor of the Faith Lutheran Church and the many friends and relatives who consoled and prayed for her in her final days. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church at 1311 Dakota Street in St. Vital, Winnipeg, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation are welcomed. "The song has ended, but the melody lingers on..."
