ELSIE (ALICE) DOUGLAS It is with deep sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Alice Douglas on November 1, 2013 with her loving family by her side. Alice was born February 10, 1935. She was predeceased by the love of her life, Jack, with whom she married on August 15, 1953. They enjoyed 59 years together, and raised four children. Mom and dad moved to Petersfield to enjoy their retirement, funny thing was she was afraid of the water. Dad enjoyed his pontoon boat but she would never go for a ride with him. She always wanted to know what we were making for supper as she wanted to make sure our families were well fed. She loved to cook and feed her large family. We never went home hungry, Christmas dinner was a day long affair, you made sure you were hungry when you arrived. Her perogies, holupchi and goulash will be greatly missed and won't be duplicated. Mom was always proud of the accomplishments of her family. Whether it was the birth of a grandchild or great-grandchild, first job or promotion. She was constantly worried about each and every member of her family and loved to share everyone's news. Alice is survived by her children, Jack (Colleen), Debbie (Bob), Heather (Dave) and Craig (Alison); grandchildren, Lindsay (Brad), John (Sarah), Todd (Ashley), Kristen (James), Melanie (Pete), Jenna (Cliff), Tara (Perry), Tyler (Randene), Morgan (Brent) and Kyle. Her very precious great-grandchildren, John-David, Nikita, Drew, Colby, Pria, Rayna, Ethan, Kayla, Ryan, Harlen, Mila, Grace, Nixon and two more on the way. The family would like to thank the nurses at the Selkirk General Hospital for their kindness and caring, also the many Home Care workers that she came in contact with, many who became caring friends. A private memorial will take place. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice. A very dear mother, grandmother and great- grandmother, you will be greatly missed and forever loved. "Well I will love and leave ya" Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
