Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHERTHA (SUSAN) ZELNICK Hertha Susan Zelnick, nee DeVehr, passed away peacefully October 30, 2013, with family by her side. Susan battled Parkinsons but in the end it was Pneumonia that took her. She was predeceased by her husband George in 2002. Left to mourn, her daughter Jacqueline Dacquay (Dan), sons George Zelnick (Debbie) and John (Linda), her beloved grandchildren that called her Baba, Tara-lee Swanston, Thomas Junghans, Ali Junghans, Chelsea Zelnick and Garrett Zelnick, her brothers George DeVehr (Liz), Vic (Connie), sisters-in-law Shirley Ammeter (Len), Darlene Meakin (Don) and many nieces, nephews and friends. Hertha was born in occupied Germany, April 9, 1944 and came to Canada when she was five years old. Here she met her husband George and together they raised their family. Susan loved getting together with family and friends and was also known for her famous rib sauce recipe that she loved to share. Susan had spent 11 years in care, the last eight years on the North Station at the Bethania Personal Care Home. She had the very best of care and we are forever grateful for that. Susan's attitude was always upbeat and positive even in her failing health. The saying goes that while we are not able to control what happens in life; we can control our response. She always chose to respond with grace and dignity. We will miss your positive spirit and wish you well on your journey! A private service was held Monday, November 4 at the Bethania Chapel. Thank-you to the Bethania staff for the amazing care that Susan received. Donations can be made to the Bethania Mennonite Memorial Foundation, 1045 Concordia Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2K 3S7.
