NORA ELLEN JOHNSON (nee GALLAGHER) Peacefully with her children at her side, our dear mother Nora Ellen Johnson (nee Gallagher) passed away in the evening November 6, 2013. Nora was born August 5, 1916 to Thomas and Mary Gallagher and was the last surviving of 14 children. Mom grew up in the farm community of Erinview, Manitoba. She met the love of her life Carl Johnson and they married in St. Mary's Cathedral September 3, 1933, raising six children together. Nora was predeceased by her parents, husband Carl, son Terrence, granddaughter Colleen, seven brothers and six sisters. Left to forever cherish her memory are her daughter, Carol (Dan Kennedy), grandchildren Joanne (Pierre Cardinal), Kevin (Nadine), Paul (Kelley), Jennifer (Jason Busch), Ryan and Derrick (Naoko); her sons, Dennis (Carole), grandson Garry; son Terrence's children, Teresa (Shawn Lillie) and Ken (Mel); son Robert (Doris), grandchildren Tammy (David Leslie), and grandson David; her daughter Teresa (Craig Turner), grandchildren Alana, Laura, Julia, Kevin and her son Thomas; 25 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends. Mother celebrated 60 years as a member of The Secular Order of St. Francis. She was a life member of the Catholic Women's League at Christ The King Parish. One not to be in the limelight mother loved to serve behind the scenes and spent many years helping the Brownies who affectionately named her "Forget me not". With a strong unwavering faith, trusting in God's loving mercy, she was the family matriarch. Mom was our light in the window guiding all her children and grandchildren with her sage advice and wisdom. She loved literature, poetry, Canadian History and was a proud Manitoban. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the nurses and staff at Misericordia Place for their compassionate care of our mother. Vigil prayers will be said 7:00 p.m., November 12, 2013 at Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, 847 St. Mary's Road. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on 10:00 a.m. November 13, 2013 at Christ the King Roman Catholic Church with Fr. R. Pasinato presiding. Interment to follow in St. Vital Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Misericordia Foundation or St. Boniface Hospital Foundation. Prayer of St. Francis Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace; Where there is hatred, let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; And where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, Grant that I may not so much seek To be consoled as to console; To be understood, as to understand; To be loved, as to love; For it is in giving that we receive, It is in pardoning that we are pardoned, And it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life. Amen. Rest peacefully Mum. We will love you forever.

My deepest sympathy to all. I will always remember your mother doing Yoga when we were kids and how she always had kind words for all. She was devoted to her faith and family Thinking of you at this time Bonnie (nee Robinson) Macario and family (Calgary) - Posted by: Bonnie and Carlo Macario and family (Family friend) on: Nov 15, 2013

Your mother, Nora, and her relationship with her family was an inspiration ... full of joy, love, compassion. It was always wonderful to see her eyes light up at the sight of any family member. She obviously loved you all very deeply. Thank you for sharing this with us at Sunday Mass. - Posted by: Lucille Bisignano (acquintance from Misericordia Place) on: Nov 10, 2013
