LILLIAN CECELIA EVANS Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, passed away peacefully with family by her side on November 6, 2013. Mom was born on September 10, 1916 in Winnipeg, MB to Laura and John McNamara. She was predeceased by her loving husband Alec in 1978, her eldest son Robert in 2000 and siblings, Edna, Dorothy, Gladys, Gordon and George. Mom will be sadly missed by her children Joan Parkinson, Gaile (Doug) Kish, and Brian (Shirle) Evans, her grandchildren, Scott, Grant (Karen), Bryan (Theresa), Debbie, Kevin (Claudia), Carole, Brent (Kelly), Christopher (Lisa), her great-grandchildren, Christopher, Michael, Brittany, Joel, Alessia, Brayden, Carter, Rowan, Gage, Brody, great-great-grandchildren Grayson, Olivia, Bree and numerous nieces and nephews. Her life was her family, friends, church and volunteer work. Always giving and never expecting anything in return, she set the standard for her family and lived by it to the end. She cherished and loved all of her family, who could do no wrong in her eyes. She was a true friend to all who met her, always available to assist with care, baking, cooking, cleaning, or anything required to make life easier for others. Those who were sick or requiring assistance would receive a visit, complete with hot soup and sandwiches, whether they lived in the same apartment building or if she had to take the bus to the other side of the City. Mom loved celebrations with big family dinners, Canada Day parties and family visits. She was always ready for a laugh, to sing or for a walk down memory lane. She was a proud member of the Rebekah St. James Lodge #47 and the Victoria Club. Her retirement years were occupied with bowling (best bowler trophy at age 90), Seniors Games and floor curling. In addition, she volunteered at the Nearly New Shop in support of the McKinnon Guild (Children's Hospital Foundation). Our family extends their appreciation to the staff at Meadowood Manor for their quality of care and support. Mom's service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children's Hospital (McKinnon Guild) or a charity of your choice.
