Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN MICHALISHYN Peacefully November 12, 2013, at the age of 99 years and seven months, Helen was called to her eternal home. Helen was born on April 12, 1914 in Sarto, MB where she was raised and attended school. She married Peter in 1943 in Winnipeg and started raising their family in Narol, MB. In 1966 they moved into the city where they became members of St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church. After Peter's passing in 1997, she continued to stay in her house until 2008. She then moved into an assisted living residence and finally to River East Personal Care Home. Helen is survived by daughters Elsie (Gord) and Marianne (Daryl); grandchildren Merrilee (Wade), Craig (Sara), Cheri, Carolyn (Keith), Phil (Julie); great-grandchildren Brooke, Kirsten and Leif, Sebastien, Claire and Alexander, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband Peter and sons Morris and Terry, sisters Ksenia, Sophie, Annie, Nettie, Yavdokia, and Eva, and brothers Stanley, Lazar, Paul, Leonard, and John. She was the last living of 12 children of Maria and Todos Swynar, pioneers from Ukraine. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, November 15, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 35 Marcie Street (off Gilmore) with Very Rev. Fr. Mark Gnutel officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba or to St. Anne's Ukrainian Catholic Church for the purchase of embroidered altar linens, a special project which would be dear to Helen's heart.
