Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCLAUDE HERBERT GAYE February 17, 1927 - November 9, 2013 Suddenly, on Saturday, November 9, 2013, Claude passed away in the arms of his loving wife, Vi. Left to lovingly miss Claude is his wife Violet (nee Tappin); sons Alan (Linda), Jeffrey (Sherry); daughter Beverley (Brent) Mackie; grandchildren, Dennis (Jessica), Sarah (Evan), Scott, Emily, Carly, Jordan, Tayvia (Lee); one great-grandchild Alayna, as well as many cousins with whom he had maintained a close relationship. He was predeceased by his parents Cassandra and Herbert Gaye. Claude and Vi met in Grade 11 and were married in Regina in 1949. They moved to Winnipeg in 1959 and raised their family there. Claude worked as an Underwriter in the General Insurance Industry throughout his career. After retirement he and Vi toured the East and West coasts of Canada and the United States, before settling in the Peachland / Summerland area of the Okanagan Valley for a period of 21 years. They returned to Winnipeg in 2010 to be closer to their children and reside in St. James/Assiniboia. Very community minded, Claude willingly gave of his time and talents wherever he resided. He was a member of the Sturgeon Creek Masonic Lodge and St. James Chapter #25 Order of The Eastern Star. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Friday, November 15, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. in the Assiniboia Christian Centre, 3390 Portage Avenue at Rouge Road. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of your choice.
