JEAN HUNTER (YAREMKEWICH) 1920 - 2013 It is with great sadness that we announce that Jean passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Poseidon Care Centre. She was 93 years of age. Jean will be lovingly remembered by her children Douglas (Pat) and Janice (Barry), her grandchildren Jason (Tracy), Caroline (Anthony), Kira (Darryl) and Katherine, great-granddaughter Ashley, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband John in 2008. Jean had a long career in health care. She graduated as a Registered Nurse from St. Boniface General Hospital and later studied for and received her Bachelor of Nursing degree in Public Health from the University of Manitoba. As well as working full time in her chosen profession, Jean was a remarkable homemaker. She loved cooking, baking, gardening, decorating and knitting. She also enjoyed travel, her favourite place being Mazatlan, Mexico for its world famous shrimp. She loved her family above all else and was a very proud mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be missed. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service and Interment will be held at a later date. THOMSON "IN THE PARK" 925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • My condolences to Jean's family. I just now saw in the alumni journal that she had passed away. She was my mentor and also oriented me to public health in South office. She was a joy to work with, caring and fun. I remembered what she modelled as a public health nurse when I moved on to Calgary and Vancouver. • My condolences to the family. I will miss Aunty Jean very much; Her kindness, sense of humor and generosity will always be remembered. Although, my heart is heavy - I find comfort that Aunty Jean and Mom are sitting chatting and giggling as they did when they were here with us. - Posted by: Trish Wishnowski (Neice) on: Nov 19, 2013

  • My condolences to the family. Jean was a friend and mentor to me as a new grad in 1973. She helped orientate me to public health nursing in the South District Office. I loved working with her. She was always kind and patient. A very classy lady. Sincerely, Sue Magne - Posted by: Sue Magne (Colleague) on: Nov 17, 2013
