RICHARD FREDRICK MASON August 10, 1945 - November 10, 2013 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rick Mason, at the age of 68. He leaves to mourn his sister Joan, her children Karen, Bob (Heather), and Julie; brother Charles (Mildred), their children Cathy (Murray), Sharon (Neil) and Angela; sister Betty and her children, Kim, Lynn (Wayne) and LoraLee (Michael) as well as his great-nephews and nieces, his many dear friends, including Barb and her family, and his wee cat Toots. Uncle Rick will be leaving a huge hole in the Facebook world for his many, many friends. He commented on, and "liked" about everything we posted. This past summer, Rick got the opportunity to move to Winnipeg Beach and be nearer to more family. With this, he also got himself a van and his little cat, Toots. He was able to take his van and go camping with good friends, and go fishing, which he loved, with family, and caught six fish! He also got to spend time with his family, visiting, sharing meals and just spending time. He was predeceased by (and is now hanging out with) his parents, Henry and Mary, his brothers-in-law, Wally Wensel and Olie Bjornson, and by his very loved dog, Ziggy. There will be a celebration of his life in the spring, where his ashes will be spread on Riding Mountain alongside his mom and dad. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Cancer Society of Manitoba.

Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • I have so many memories Uncle Rick, it's hard to pick one, but I think our visits back and forth when we both lived in the country and those auction sales and dreams shared about country life were my best. There is Brandon too, when we both lived there and you and Mom and Dad would come for supper and we always had good times. You made the best out of your last 2 years and set an example of how to "live with" an illness and just keep on trucking. Miss U Rick. - Posted by: Cathy & Murray Painter (Niece and husband) on: Nov 28, 2013

  • Although I never met Richard, he had such a kind heart and seemed to care about so much! I always enjoyed our chats on facebook. He was able to turn rain into sunshine. I will miss him dearly. God bless you Richard you are an angel now and will be forever remembered for your kindness! RIP - Posted by: Raven (Friend) on: Nov 20, 2013

  • I have a few memories of him from my childhood and the most recent from this past summer at a Mason family reunion. They were all memories made in fun family times. I will miss his "likes" and comments on Facebook that he always made with a silly sense of humour. You will be missed Uncle Rick. - Posted by: Jesselyn (Great Niece) on: Nov 18, 2013

  • Betty and family, I am so sorry to hear of Rick's illness and passing. I enjoyed reading his quips on your Facebook book posts. He seems like quite a character. Regardless of age, losing a sibling is so unfair and painful. Offering my prayers and sympathies - Posted by: Patty penner (Friend) on: Nov 16, 2013
